My check engine light is still on. I had it read and I replaced the glow plugs.
My Question is, once the glow plugs were replaced do I need to have the computer cleared or was it supposed to clear itself?
My ABS light came on also when I did the brakes and seals a couple of weeks ago. I was dumb and removed the sensor near the wheel and not at the connection. After I heard anout the connection I found it underneath the wheel well. I just figured it was tucked away in a far spot.
As far as I know you have to clear it from the computer. I know on my other vehicels I have you have to clear it with the code reader computer or disconnect the battery. Others will soon follow to give you more information.
What code did you get making you replace the GP's? The light should go out on its own if the problem is fixed. Have the codes read again and see what you have.
Did you check the GPCM before you replaced the glow plugs? Either clear the codes or disconnect the batteries for a while and see what happens. If the light comes back on, we'll need to know what code you have (or if you remember which codes caused you to replace the plugs).
The code that I have was read at the dealership. It was nice I got a freebie through my stepfather.
The code was P0677. After checking on here and my hanyes book it said it was a glow plug #7 circuit failure.
some on here and others outside of the website told me to replace the glow plugs. So I did. The light is still on and I haven't had anytime to go to the dealership to get it cleared. That is if I am supposed to.
I am a novice with diesels so I did check the connections, and all were good. At least I thought.
If the wire for #7 checks good, ohm the #7 glow plug pin (at the valve cover gasket) against the battery ground and make sure it's reading below 2 ohms. Then disconnect both batteries for around 15 min. and see if that will clear the light. If not, you may have a GPCM issue.
