well it just kills my mpg in the city cuz the gears are kept to long, first gear goes all the way to 2800 rpm and to shift to third 3000 rpm, i only get 10 mpg in city driving
What sort of throttle position sensing system is there? I'm not well versed with allisons, but I think there should be a vacuum modulator similar to that of a C6 transmission to detect throttle position. If its anything like the C6, you will get late and hard shifts without that system installed and working correctly.
i just have a part that goes on the rite side of the injection pump that has in input from the vacuum pump and an out to the trans, the vacuum modulator on the trans is hooked up to that part, and ive been adjusting it, all that does when i adjust it is downshifts quicker or it dowshifts when im almost to a stop and thats where i left it, i prob need another part
Only thing I can think of is the direction of signal might be reversed. It seems that these diesels tend to require a high throttle signal in the clockwise direction, while most throttle position sensors are set up for a counter clockwise high throttle position.
I also know for a fact that the C6 has different modulators for different engines. Using a gas engine modulator on a diesel engine would cause high RPM shifting for a diesel.
the part on the injector pump is called a VRV. vacuum regulator valve.
i would stick with the allison. the C6 is a pain in the butt to set up, and will not do any better on fuel mileage.
i would check the vacuum pump. i bet it is going bad, causing a low vacuum signal, and screwing up the shift points on your trans.you want at least 17 inches of vacuum for the trans to work properly.
