Thumbs up Bad noise at idle

2000 F350 super duty,7.3, 205,000mi
Hi Guys, I haven't been around in a bit nor posted, Sorry. But I figure ask the pro's about this.
At Idle, Sounds like a real bad main bearing(just for comparison) Raise the idle(by peddle)200rpm, Gone? I also revered her up good to be sure it ain't a bearing.
I took the truck on a 300mi round trip now it's worse. much worse rattling sound.
The converter/flywheel bolts are tight
all pulley's seem tight on front of motor. Someone said possible Harmonic ballencer?

Someone else said possible bad converter in tranny?(Damm GM owners!!LOL) However the more I try to locate the noise, The more I am thinking back of motor

Thanks for any suggestions

I know the 99's have a converter that rattles but not sure on 2000. Did you take the belt off and then check all the pulleys?

Mine was rattling at an idle when I had only 20K on the truck.. turned out to be a bad torque conv. Ford replaced it under warranty..

I pulled the Belt and all pulley's are ok. The Power steering pulley moves in and out maybe 3/8ths.
It's not any exhaust pipes.
I went under the truck while running, It sure seems right between the tranny and the back of engine

It's either a bad torque converter or a broken flex plate.

Thanks!

OK, Then I think I'll bring it to the Tranny guy.

While it's there and split is there something else that should be taken care of?

It's Rattling Real Bad and Bent.......AGAIN!!! The starter don't get on the teeth and I gotta get Godzilla Open end and turn the motor some to start.

My 2000 7.3 is stock, 212k miles

Here's a TSB 99-23-6 that speaks to the replacement of a flexplate.

If they didn't use a new engine spacer and crankcase spacer, and they were damaged causing misalignment, than that is why the new flexplate is once again bent.
