02 SCREW and tuneup
Ok I understand that in the "06" 5.4,3V engines the spark plugs have a tendency to break while doing a tuneup. My question is "Is there anything that you can use to try and clean the carbon build-up around the plugs BEFORE trying to remove them in one piece ( i.e. - seafoam & where specificaly( throt. bod., vaccum hose, etc : acetone in gas tank or any of the commer. fuel additives ). I also have been told that doing the tunup BEFORE 100,00 miles would be less likely to snap a plug. Any thoughts. Thanks

On the 02, use compressed air to blow out the plug pockets after removing the coils before removing the plugs.
Use anti-seize on the plugs and do not over torque the new ones.
The problem with the 02's is more like the plugs blowing out of the head from either being loose or over torqued and pulling the 4 threads out of the heads.
I did my 01 5.4L at about 75K. No problems.
