Question does an 88 f 350 have to go to Emissions?

Hey all I found a guy selling his 88 f 350 its in pretty good shape for the year.the ct emmissions site says anything 25 years old or older doesnt have to go.but the guy whos selling says its 20 years.he never took the truck to ct emmissions and he just registered it 4 months ago.he said he doesnt have to take it since its an 88.Thas 21 years old so going by the ct emmisons site it has to go.but hes telling me it doesnt.whos right?

my brother registered his 88 about a year ago. we never heard anything about taking it to emissions when at the DMV, and never received notification by letter.

If you don't take it to emissions you wont get your registration renewal if you don't take it.the site is right its 25 years is the cut off the guys wrong.he wont get his registration renewal in the mail if he doesn't take it.

eh fordinmudd

Regarding the "...he just registered it 4 months ago..." makes me wonder why he is selling it now already.

Maybe you should ask that it pass emissions first before you buy it, eh that's only what ten dollars.

Neither of you guys mention whether the vehicles in question are diesels.

I recall back then there were diesel exemption stickers that were good for like four years at time.

The law is 25 years. I made the DMV lady explain it 5 times when they screwed up o my truck.

It needs to be less than 2 years old (I think it was 2?)
Over 10,000lbs GVWR
Older than 25 yrs

And the lady said there is no difference in laws between gassers and diesels.

eh fordinmudd, just because there is a cat canister in the exhaust pipes doesn't guarantee that the guts are still in it.

The presence of the canister just ensures that the vehicle passes the visual inspection.
