Will a dealer negotiate a lower than x-plan price? Even at x-plan they are making money on the hold-back. This could easily be $1500 on an'03 Expy. I talked to one dealer about coming down a little and was told that "x-plan is x-plan, if they go lower they could lose their license"........a dealer wouldn't lie would they??? Has anyone successfully negoiated a better price off of x-plan?

 

The X Plan paper work that we were provided by my wifes company in 1999 clearly stated that the price was set by Ford Motor company and the only charge or modification to the price the dealer could make was the prep fee for checking the vehicle out, cleaning and installing items like roof rack and floor mats when the vehicle was unloaded from the truck. Back then it was $140. The paper work also stated that the dealer made 4% of what you paid for the vehicle. I do not know if it has changed but most likely it has not.

 

I purchased my 03 Expy on an X-plan and I was unsuccessful with lowering the price. The price is set by Ford and it is printed on the invoice sheet. Put I was able to negotiate the interest rate and on the trade-in. So overall I was really happy with the x-plan price and the ease of a no hassle purchase.
