on my 95. it just started doing this.. when i turn the key it wont prime and the code is 542.. secondary circut fault... if i hit the tank where the pump is it works... any ideas??
The connection at the fuel pump/tank is dirty/loose. WD-40 on the electrical connection and secure by hand. Picture of connection is shown in MyGarage, DonKo, the picture with the hammer.
I had 2 failures, one around 150k (end of life wearout) and one around 230k where an internal connection get corroded. Both required a tow, and I was lucky enough that neither failure happened more than 10 miles away from my home.
Sounds like we're having related problems. The FP has been replaced and still does not prime - You can see the whole story inone of my two threads on the subject. I assume you already checked the inertia switch. I'm now to the point that I'm trying to figure out what is blowing the FP relay fuse. One of my son's friend (who put in the FP) believes something is shorting it out by grounding. This may be true since the battery is now dead - but that could also have been from when the were working on it and left door and the hood open for two days.
