Let the swap begin
as i have mentioned in the past, i am inline to do an engine swap to my 1990 f150. the donor is a 1982 f150 and i will be using its 302 v8. in the recipient is a 300-6 fuel injected mtr... i have been having issues with it, it is lacking power and acting like it might have a bad valve or maybe a bent pushrod, idk for shure... but im ready for some good ol v8 muscle..
i will be posting in this thread the steps in which i took to complete this transition. feel free to ask any questions and ill do my best to answer them.
the donor:
the 302 v8:
it has the same transmision as the current 300-6 a c6 tranny:
the recipient:
i will need to remove the motor mount towers and posssibly the crossmember too, idk yet:
OK i will list the steps i took to start this project:
removed hood and battery
disconnected all wiring to the motor and vaccuum lines as well
removed radiator fluid, hoses and radiator
unbolted transmission and linkages
unbolted motor mount bolts
applied a 3 ft chain to opposite ends of intake manifold
applied cherry picker and hoisted engine up
engine wouldnt come out so i enlisted my wife to help
applied chain to both vehicles and pull on donor truck at same time as lifting motor tranny combo from donor.
it might seem novice in everyway but the motor came out, noone was hurt, took about 5 hours all together (i wasnt exactly busting my butt on it) i will need to remove some parts from the crossmember so i can install the motor in the recipient truck.
stay tuned there will be more to come as i get'r'done!
