Fuel filter maintenance with fuel/water seperator question
I have posted in the past about getting NO water when I do a drain.
At 25k miles I finally got around to ordering the filters and doing the change.
First I opened the drain valve and several drop trickled out and it was a trickle the whole time.
After about a minute and not a lot of draining I crawled out and opened the hood but I left the drain opened. I then changed the engine mounted filter.
I then crawled underneath again and it was still trickling drops. I then loosened the filter and then fuel started flowing. I changed the filter and closed the drain.
Upon inspection I had a total of maybe a cup of fuel. I was parked at an incline b/c of my driveway.
Do you think the incline is causing for me not to get any water when I drain water?? I do not get any engine warnings and at 25k miles there should be some water.

I also have a driveway that is sloped, but very little. I got a little bit of water the 1st time I drained mine, but not much probably 6 or 7 good sized drops worth. The next time I had to look real hard to find any and it was the size of pin heads. My opinion is you are probably getting high quality fuel and that is why you are not seeing the water in there.

In a perfect world you would never get any water out. The fuel stations have filters that are supposed to keep the water from passing through the pump but its not a perfect world. I drain mine pretty regular and have never had any water but I still do it on a regular basis because it only takes 1 bad tank to mess up an entire engine.
You also might want to make sure your drain isnt plugged up. There have been quite a few people that found a gel like substance in the filter housing on the frame rail. they said the same thing about draining really slow but after the wiped it out, cleared the drain, and replaced the filters it worked properly.
