well finally got the exaust done i went with headers and i know alot wont like it but i went with a half way stock look it is 1 3in pipe into a 40 series out the behind the back tire like stock only with a 4in pipe looks like a stock diesiel exept the pipe is bigger so no shine just go
now for the sound- well its way to loud for me but truthfully sounds like its running really good but it pretty raw and unrefiend i think i might change the muffler to somthing differnt not sure yet post audio and pics soon i wanted more of a stock sound until you got on it and have her scream this is more nice rumble and when you get on it slaps you right in the mouth
That's much the same as I have and yes I didn't like the sound of the 40 series either.. just to obnoxious. I now have a 50 series and it's a little quieter but still pretty raw so you may want to look at a 70 series or some other brand.
ya i was thinking that the problem with the other brands is that you just dont see them very much i have heard some of them but having say.... borla mufflers on a mustang is compleatly differnt then on a bb ford so its more of the money factor and trial and error
A oval cased Magnaflow might to the trick ($70) They flow better than a chambered muffler, yet should tame it down and get rid of a lot of the drone. You could get a 14" or 18" long case depending on much you want to tone it down... Check youtube of for some could clips.
I now have a 50 series SUV on mine. It sounds about right, and the interior noise is low. I like it. I had a super 40 before and it sounded good, but a little loud. Also, I figured that since my truck isn't a hot rod, it doesn't really need to be that loud.
It also doesn't have the original cats either. If it did then a 40 or Super 40 would sound about the same as what I have now. This is just for others that might read this.
I'm running a Flowmaster 70. Its a little loud for me but I was looking for better flow without my wife noticing. Certainly sounds more powerful without being too obnoxious.
here is the video cant get the audio any cleaner sorry guys i went with the stock pipe look because eventually the truck will be only black and white no chrome the smoke is because its brand new and is burning off all the crap they coat the pipes with but here it is......
Which header did you end up going with? Some seem to cost a fortune and a lot don't seem to have the emissions connections. How was the install, or did you have them installed? I am guessing that since you went with no cat, you probably junked all the air injection stuff too?
ya its to agressive for me to i like i said in the begining i wanted soft rumble and a screamer when i got on it instead i have a yeller at idle and a screamer when i get on it
i went with a headman it costed me somewhere around 260 shipped from summit this header does have all the air injection ports i just capped them and deleted all the air injection stuff i had them installed just because i am lazy and had the money to pay someone to do it lol but being lazy got me 9 broken bolts in the head so i should of done it myself but it is a straight foward install just very time consuming
