play in the middle drive shaft bushing

i have a f350 srw longbed and in the middle of the drive shaft that goes to the rear there is a bushing of some sort. i was under there and checking some other things and noticed some movement in that bushing . it looked liked it was smashed down also the boot was gone off of that area also. should that be tighter??

I had to take mine to a shop due to the fact that i dont have a hydralic press which is needed to press the bearing back on. The play is alright for now but it will probably lead to a very loud squeal and get very annoying and you will want to change it out anyway.
Here is my thread on it: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...riveshaft.html

Had mine change out a while back also, no press here either. I had a slight squeek and rubbing sound coming from under there.

I'm getting a humming noise at speeds of 65 and above, I'm wondering if this is the culprit?

Hey Glenn, i may be wrong but when this thing is on its way out, boy you know it. It squeals quite loud. Mine did it at all speeds, slow or fast.

Ah, good to know. I need to figure this out, I'll have to do some detective work.

Hey Glenn, while your investigating under there, take a look to see if any of these weights came off the drive shafts, noise and shaking or rattling are some of the symtoms
