anyone suggest a insurance company for a 1979 F-150?

truck is a 1979 F-150 SWB 4x4

i am 20 years old this month, and if it wasn't for the strike by the Drive-test workers, i would have my G-2! and on my way to my full G!

so where should i go for insurance? whats the best classic car insurance? or ??? as i am thinking most companies don't want to cover a 30+ year old truck,

also who is the cheapest for young drivers? and what do you guys pay for your old trucks? i am talking like 30-40 year old trucks,

also see my youtube video in my signature, it should be done in the next month or so,,, so it will be classified a custom,,,, or modded for sure!

any help would be great,,,,

Good video.

Try TD Canada trusts insurance I hear they're pretty hungry for new business.

You will probably have to get an appraisal on the truck before any insurance company will insure it.

Or you could put the truck in your father or mothers name and have them insure it and have you as the secondary or primary driver.

I hope this helps.

ya i do all my banking with TD Canada Trust, and i contacted them on Friday, the guy on the phone was shocked when i told him the year,

he said they would have to mail me something, said 4-5 days it should arrive, i wonder what i got to fill out? all i asked for was a quote, then i got to mail it back, i am new to all this insurance stuff, but they ask a lot, "are you single?" ya why you asking? i don't swing that way! lol lol lol lol also asked me about the truck, i wish i never mentioned about me and my father restoring the truck,,,,,, he went "oh in that case its a custom modded vehicle,,,,,,) i hear a cash register ringing in my ear? ka-ching ka-ching! i was like good grief in my head, what did i blab now,,,,,

also i got the truck appraised all ready when i put the truck in my name, again the dang MTO needed that too just switch owner ship from the previous owner,

i am thinking i might have to get it appraised again? just for a quote? hope the guy who did it before feels like doing it again, he wasn't the most cheerful fellow, seemed like a bother for him, ah well i am sure there are plenty of good appraisers in Southern Ontario, you know any Rick?

all i hope is a appraisal is all they want, i hate the garbage they put us classic/vintage car/truck owners through, i mean i am glad we don't have to get them emission tested, but it seems they don't like making things easy, i wonder if there is any classic car only insurance companies in Ontario? i need to find one maybe!

and thanks for the help Rick,

-Brent

TD Can BITE ME.

Call John Charno at Crosslands General Insurance

I'm originally from London, he can do some classic/collectible insurance. As for appraisals, contact Brad Burns at Special interest Vehicle Appraisals. Been around a LONG time, and as far as I am concerned, one of the best in the business. Extremely detailed and accurate reports.

If you need any contact info for these guys email big_angry_hillbilly@yahoo.ca

Depends on what you want to do with the truck.

I use Lant and the Silver Wheel plan on my '48. There are restrictions and you may have to be 21 years old.
Check with them.

http://www.lant-ins.ca/

No driving to work is allowed, just "hobbiest" activities but dirt cheap.

Regular insurance at your age and the fact that you are male is going to be very expensive. Of course you can always have the operation,..
a lop-it-offa-me will make you legally female and save you a ton of money.

good luck

I can't remember who my truck is insured with, maybe Western General Mutual??? Setup through a really good broker... Costs $5-600, but that's as 3rd vehicle with 2 drivers.

The MTO & insurance appraisals are 2 different things, for different puposes, so you will need another appraisal. Check your yellow pages, or ask arround at a car show or something.
