'05 Grille Badge Removal

Hi all,
I've got an '05 F350. Enough stones have hit the big FORD oval emblem on the grille that it looks bad. I have a replacement emblem, and examining it, it looks like it's a push-on type deal - it has two triangular plastic tabs that look like they lock into the grille if it's just pushed into place.

I don't want to take the grille apart to get to the back side to release any clips or whatever is back there if I don't have to.

My question is, does anyone know if I can just pry on the old emblem until it breaks off, or will that damage whatever part of the grille holds the emblem on?

Thank you!

I was looking at my emblem and didn't really figure out how it is supposed to come out. Didn't look too hard, because I wasn't ready to actually take it out. But it is extremely easy to take the grille off, and I would do that no matter what, just to make it easier to work on the emblem.

Remove the grille by removing 4 screws across the top, tip the grille out 10 degrees, then reach behind it with a screw driver to pry the 5 spring clips loose across the bottom. It's a 2 minute job, not counting collecting your tools.

Please let us know how the emblem comes off. Mine is looking sorry too.

Thanks, bpounds - heck, that sounds easy - maybe just tilting the grille forward will allow enough room to get to the back side of the emblem.

It's a shop truck, and the boss took it home for the weekend to do some chores, so I won't be able to get to it next week, but I'll let you know how it goes.

Yes, take the grille off, much easier. I do remember seeing a nut on the back of mine, but I only glanced at it, so I cant remember exactly. Take the grille off, it will be easier either way...

Speaking of emblems, I need to replace the one on my 05. My 01's still looks like new, Ford's "cheapening" is getting irritating. Anyone have any leads on a grille emblem that will last longer like my billet badges?

to replace the emblem, just take a pair of dikes and cut the tabs off the old emblem and pop it out. you don't want to open up the clips where the emblem slides into because they are flimsy and can break off easily

I was looking at mine the other day because it is faded and peeling and it looks like just a nut and some plastic clips...

the grille comes off easy! 2 mins, just the hand full of screws on top then lean the grille forward and reach down inside from the top using a flat head screw driver and push down on the metal clips at the bottom.

has anyone painted or polished thier stock emblem? if so post a pic!! I dont want to spend money replacing the stock emblem because in the future I want to get a billet grille...

Thumbs up super duty grille emblem

Does anyone know where to find a custom grille emblem to replace the ford one? Mine is full of bubbles and I would like to replace it with a custom made one.

My new insert has blue stuff over what I think is adhesive on the back.

Is the factory one stuck on with the clips and two sided foam tape?

If so how do you get it apart?

Thanks guys---Bob

I don't know about the f250 emblems, but my old 150 emblem also had double sided tape on it..

The billet badges are good looking..

Ive seen 2 style mounts on grille badges. Some just push on with a snug enough fit that they stay, others use 2 speed nuts to hold it on.

But what does factory use. Just nuts or tape too. How do you seperate the adhesive if factory uses it?
