seal at the rear of the transmission

I have a 89 f150 4X4 (300 inline 6) 5 speed manual trans. i was underneath replacing a u joint on the driveshaft and noticed a lot of "gunk" at the rear of the transmission where the driveshaft connects to the yoke that comes out of the trans. It was all over the underside of the truck at that one particular spot. So i'm assuming it's the seal at the rear of the trans. Can anyone help me identify this seal so i can order another one? A part number maybe? I need to know what it's called so i don't look like an idiot when i go to the parts store to ask for it. Any help is greatly appreciated

Don`t know what Ford calls it but I would call it the transfer case tailshaft seal. Might want to check how much side play you have in the driveshaft there as there should be a replaceable bushing in there that can wear and cause the seal to leak. A little play is normal but should not be slopy.

Output shaft seals is what i've always known them as, on a t-case anyways.

Look for a metal i.d. tag on one of the bolts.

If not, this should help.
