35x11.5 Toyo Open Country M/Ts On 18s

Does anyone know how the 35x11.5 size tire looks? Is it really skinny or not very different from the 35x12.5s? The reason is I want to use my 8" wide stock rims and I'm not sure a 35x12.5 will fit correctly. Any opnions?

Bump. I want to try to order these tires ASAP. Would I get less rubbing with an 11.5 tire vs. a 12.5 or is the rubbing more determined with the height, not width? Would I be able to do a 35x11.5 with just a leveling kit and have no rubbing at all?

My guess is your problem is with the height and width. On my '88 Les Shwab told me that we'd have to space the bumper to fit my 315/75r16's so the tire diameter would fit so I just took it off. Not exactly the same truck but a similar setup. I barely rub and my tires are proximately 12.5" wide so I would think with a leveling kit you should get away with 11.5's

Also I don't think the 315/75's will fit an 8" rim. The guys at Les Shwab had me put 10" width rims on mine.

I couldn't find the 35x11.5 Toyo M/T's on their website. You sure that numbers correct?

FWIW, I have the 325/65Rx18 Toyo A/T's on my truck, their not too far off from the 35x12.5 M/T's According to the specs if that helps any.

Yeah, I wasn't exactly sure if he was talking stock or not so thought I would throw it out just in case.

Also, for what it's worth, a user on another forum .org put 37's on his stock height '08 KR. Not sure if the '08's have more clearance in the wells then the older style. I don't recall him having rubbing issues though. I'll have to go look it up again and see.

The '08s do have more clearance. I'm really just concerned about how skinny the tire would look on a lifted or leveled truck. Toyo has them listed as 285/75/18 on their website.

On a stock height vehicle, they probably wouldn't look to bad, still bigger then the majority of the stock tires. It's possible they may look a little thin on a lifted truck, but maybe not, there only an inch thinner then mine and mine look pretty big. As long as you don't go to extreme, they would probably look ok on a moderately lifted truck.

Here's what a 285/65/20 Looks like. Almost the exact width and height as the Toyos you're looking at.

Here's two shots of my '08 with 35X12.5's - they're pretty meaty. I don't think an inch less will be too skinny!

Thanks for the pics guys!!! Now will a 11.5" wide tire rub less than a 12.5" tire or is it more the height factor?

Nice looking SD RED! So...if you don't mind...how do you like those Pro Comp A/T Extreme's???

Also...The reason the 35" tire will fit all '05-new is because FORD went to the coil front suspension. From '99-'04 the SD came with leaf springs up front. IMO...check the manufacturer for proper wheel (rim) width recommendations. The 11.5" tire on the OEM rims will look just fine...with a lift or without...IMHO.

Yes, a narrower tire will rub less. Width makes a huge difference along with wheel offset.
