Restore project part II!

This is my 1965 F-100!

I have had it since I was 15,I am now 38.I did the first restore in 1988.But with marriage, four childern and getting older,it has become a shelf in my shop. The bed is full of crap, junk and what ever else my wife has thrown in there.

I can't stand seeing it this way.So its time to get it back on the road.
Here's were I need help!I would like to update the drive train.It has a 390 4 bbl,mild cam,and 4spd.

What kid of drive train do you guys think??? A newer overhead cam eng? or a 460? How about a 7.3 diesel?

What do you guys think? What engs do you run?I don't want to sell her.So its time to go fix her up again.

Thanks for the help!

Brad

Its been setting to long!I have to tear it apart and go through it.Nothing wrong with it,ran like a raped ape in its day.

I am close enough to st.louis area that in a few years it will have to have emissions tested. I run clean engines but not that clean.Just thinking of updating it.The best of both worlds, new and old.

I do have alot of FE parts laying around. Maybe I am over thinking this.

Robert How much of a drop you have on your truck? It looks sweet...

I started this project almost six years ago and I believe the drop from the way it was when I bought it is about 6-7 inches. It did sit up high for a 2wd.
Thank you for the compliments.
