VSS Wire location on Lincoln Navigator
Hello,
I am trying to bypass the navigation lockout on my 2006 Navigator. I tried to follow the instructions that are posted for a expedition, but it is different than mine. I've tried 3 wires already and I haven't found the VSS wire. I've tried a black/white and black/grey wire and still no luck. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks!

What I've been trying to do is bypass the lockout on the Navigation while driving. It is extremely annoying that the passenger cannot enter POI's when on a long trip so I am trying to locate the VSS and put a switch on it so that the system will allow entry while driving (or so I hope). I have ruled out two of the harnesses out of 4 as when I pull them out, navigation still works and the buttons grey out while driving. The two that remain are below along with a picture of the back of the unit.
Can anybody tell me which one is the VSS? I really don't want to cut through every wire trying to find the one, but I will if I can disable that "feature".
Or if somebody has a wiring diagram or shop manual for the 2006 Navigator, that would be even better!
Thanks,

Well, everything I can find says it's the Gray wire with the Black stripe. Looking at your photos, in the first photo on the right side I see a harness that's plugged in to the radio that has what appears to be a grey wire but I can't determine from the photo whether or not it has a black stripe. Did you look at that one ?

Well, I'm sorry but the gray/black wire is the VSS wire. I have an after market Pioneer Nav system in mine (AVIC F90BT), and to bypass it you take the wire that's supposed to be tapped into the parking brake wire and tie it together with a unused mute wire that needs to be relocated to a different pin on the harness connector, then connect the two to the vehicle ground. On the Pioneer, the VSS wire has nothing to do with bypass. Where did you get your information telling you your system can be bypassed by disconnecting the VSS wire? What I'd suggest you do is post the question on whether or not your system can even be bypassed in the audio/video section of this forum which can be found here. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum60/

I know this is an old post, but the nicer weather has made me pursue this one once again. I finally found the wire than unlocks the Buttons on this vehicle while it is in motion. It is the Black wire with a gray stripe coming out of the back of the DVD unit beneath the console. Once I put a switch on this wire, the nav system stops tracking and unlocks the buttons that normally grey out. As Borat would say - GREAT SUCCESS!!
