The maximum RECOMMENDED tire width for a 7" wide rim (stock rims are 16x7) is 265, which is about 10.5" wide. People have run up to 305 (or maybe 315). You will run into issues with sidewall flex and bowing of the tire. The bowing (unless aired down) will wear down the center ribbing of the tire tread prematurely and reduce the useful life of the tire. If you look at most wheel/tire charts (Tirerack, BF Goodrich, etc.) they recommend at least a 7.5" rim at a minimum once you step up to 285 tires (about 11.5" wide).
Def wider rims man I had 40's When i first jacked my truck up that were 13.5 wide. Looked good with ten inch wide rims. And didn't really stick out too much if thats what your goin for. Now got 12" wide rims with 15.50's. Wanted the wider stance.
