Thanks! So much nicer when I can weld from the backside of the panel! Just put in an order for more 3m Body Shutz, to undercoat everything with next week.
Man, that's some nice body work you're doing there! My cousin is in the nuclear industry, he does outages around the country. And my dad was a guard at a nuke plant for a while. Excited to see the finished project!
Shhh!! Not so loud, ,George, the wife will hear you.......LOL

Thanks! I actually started in security at the plant myself. Got lucky, with an opportunity to go into I&C (instruments and control) after my first year in security. Been doing that for the last 18 years.
So, the new left side box section is a much nicer peice than the right side was, doesn’t have that wicked twist to it. So, plan is to use the entire piece. Of course, I’ve had to do a bit of massaging on it, but not much. All in all, a nice peice. I did weld on a flange at the top, so I would have something to weld to the inside of the box. The seams will be welded also.
Marked where the cut should be. I’m giving myself an extra 3/8’s of an inch or so, to fine tune the cut afterwards. This is one of those points, where, before I cut this, I sit back and make damn sure I haven’t missed anything, before chopping an original box side in half!!

Sounds like experience talking there. I only get good after failing numerous times.

An old proverb I remember goes something like "experience is recognizing a mistake when you do it again". That's me for sure lol, but I believe Pat has gotten past that part.
That panel looks real nice. Are you going to drill the flange and weld it or use a bonding adhesive? With todays advances in bonding compounds that may be a possibility now. Just a thought.
You know, Iive been giving the bonding adhesive route some thought. May bond the flange, and then weld the seams shut. Figure the adhesive would also act as a seam sealer on the inside of that flange.
