It is up to the parents to build these into their children. Too many just let the media and government raise them. Oh dang-it, I bet that someone needs there safe space after I typed that.

Hey Pat, they are going to need instruments, and instrument techs, until the last shovel is turned in, from burying the remains... I wold not count on moving too soon. Humboldt Bay, started in June 1962, shut down in July 1974 for a refuel... it became a bargain chip between the Abalone alliance and PG&E... who wanted Diablo Canyon startup... Humboldt lost... and went into 20 years of "Safe Store".. I went there for 6 different projects, to supplement the plant staff... It took over 15 years to decommission... after 25 years of fiddling around... It just finished in 2016.... I would not worry too much if I were you...

San Onofre, laid all their people off, then hired a bunch back as contractors, so they got out of the retirement packages.. Yeah, sxxew the workers... first thing...

You will solve both problems, perches & plant... I have a feeling that both will work out, ..

Sorry to hear about the job situation. I've never been in a situation of being told by my employer that they no longer needed me because they were closing up shop --although twice that would have happened to me if I had stayed. One place took a few years to close after I left (when the contract ran out). The other closed its doors 10 months after I left there. Both times, I saw the writing on the wall of what was coming and got out of there before being caught up with several hundred other people in the unemployment lines all competing for jobs at the same time.

If you have to find another job, I hope it's even better than what you left behind.

A little Hank Jr. on the subject.

...Big and Rich.

...and Preacher Stone.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it! Got some work done on the fuel tank. I'd like to take this time to thank Gavin (Tomahawk) for allowing me to shamelessly copy his work! I did end up using 16 ga. stainless for the straps, supply house didn't have any 18 ga., and they gave me the 16 for the same price. And (as Gavin stated) it was a pain to work with! But, straps cut out, and 1/8 inch tabs welded on to the end of the straps where they will bolt up. After drilling the holes in the cross members, I decided to weld the nuts in, to make removal easy when the box is on. I was able to get some big heat shrink from work, I have to make sure it's the right size, and then mount those straps up for good. Then, on to the top straps.

"Shamelessly copying" ? Naw. You know the ol' saying....."Copying is the truest form of flattery". And one of the reasons for this Forum and Kingdom. There will be many a time current and future that many on here will be copied. Including you Pat. There has been, and I'm sure many more in the future, AWESOME builds and ideas shown here. Way too many to mention but to name just few to show my point here. We got Randle's show winning home brewed special. We got Zack's Crew that's causing whiplash up in his neck of the woods from so many people doing the "Coca-Cola Double take" as he cruises by. And Gavin's truck that you referenced to. Lest we forget the work you have done on yours Magician.

Hey amigo, no need to reinvent the wheel, its pretty good as it rolls. As the King says, some of the reason for this fourm, is to SHARE, ideas and experience. Plenty have helped me since I joined in 2005, and I hope that I have contributed a few ideas along the way. Hey, Henry didn't have all the good ideas... these forum members have had plenty. Your gas cap location, is in the top idea category for sure.

2X Baja.
And I think you will be Pat. There are different degrees of inspiration. Everybody puts a little Twist on things or ways. What's more important is when you are through your rig will literally be "Pat's Truck". AND we get to watch you do it.

I was able to score some big heat shrink from work. And, yes, it was a PITA to get on the straps. Oh, and one lesson I learned, if you get it too hot, it will tear! As you can see by the top strap, so, I'll have to redo that one.
