89/95 body swap chassis mod

Hi guys, I need some help and answers to a project I'm thinking about doing and I know all things Ford can be found here!

First off what I have. A 1989 F350 reg cab long bed, 460 ZF 5 speed 4x4. Next is a 1995 F150 extended cab shot bed 302 auto 4x4.

The 89 F350's body is a mess. Doors, fenders, cab corners, etc trashed. The chassis, drive train and engine are fine. The 95 F150's body is in great shape, but I'm starting to have problems with the front axle, front spring/shock mount, gas tank leaks etc etc.

So what I am thinking about doing is putting the 95's cab on the 89's chassis. So I'll be going from a reg cab long bed to an extended can long bed.

So what problems am I going to run into? I know the chassis will need to be made longer, in turn needing longer brake lines, fuel lines, e-brake cables. My biggest worries at the moment are the rear drive shaft and chassis brace/fuel tanks. Can I just cut the chassis at the straight section behind the transfer case add a section in and put a drive shaft from an extended cab long bed F350 (if I can find one) or is there something else I'm missing?

I like the body and style of the 95 but hate the half ton and the short bed. I need the one ton and a full bed, which in this case will be a flat bed with a dump kit. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

You will need to lengthen the frame under the cab.

They never made an x-cab 4x4f350 so you will need a d-shaft out of an x-cab 4x4 f250.

It is a lot of work. y dont you just find a F250 and throw your D60 in it and be done

I guess the wheel base of the reg cab long bed keeps you from doing ext cab short bed? How much difference is there?

The OP needs a LONG BED, as stated in his post

So I'm going to guess that finding a complete rear drive shaft from a F250 extended cab long bed 4x4 460 5 speed is not going to be an easy find? I wouldn't think that Ford made a lot of them.

I'm guessing that lengthening the chassis under the cab, until the extended cab bolts to the old cab mounts, then the drive shaft will make up the difference?

You do not need a 5spd trans D-shaft. The autos are the same.
You are swaping the complete F150 nose and cab on to the F350 frame? If so i would just get a X-cab long bed F250 frame and go from there. It would be so much easier staring from the ground up

I'm not really going for a extended cab long bed F350. Why I'm thinking about this is to save a great body from the F150 that's otherwise falling apart. If I can't use the body I'll rebuild the body on the F350, and once the F350 is done I'll get rid of the F150. To me it would be a lot easier to extend the chassis and use the F150's body VS all the cutting, welding, painting etc etc to rebuild the F350's body. I'm just unsure of what it's going to take to do it, and I still might just keep the F350's body. Not sure that's why I'm asking questions at this point.

Any other problems, other then the drive shaft, that I should be aware of?
