My 2009 Ford F150 has Sync, and I have successfully paired it with my ipod and phone. My question is, does anyone have the ability to text message through sync?
I ask because I had a Motorola KRZR paired with it and it always said that texting was unsupported. I got a Blackberry yesterday and it says the same thing. This doesn't make any sense because the Blackberry is supposed to be one of the most technologically advanced phones on the market. You'd think it would work better with Sync...
As far as i have heard Sony phones are one of a very few that let you use the text feature.
Since i have had the truck i have tried all my phones Motorola, HTC touch, Iphone, Blackberry and now my HTC Touch diamond and none of them work with Text function.
Somebody wasn't thinking when they created this function.
No, they were thinking, but they work for Sony and used in house technology. I agree that it should be able to do it with most, if not all, phones on the market. This is a way to increase Sony's market on cell phones.
I did read on a forum about most of these smart phones being able to install a program so that you can run the system on any phone with Winmo. I aint tried it as i never test anyway but might be worth looking into if you have a winmo phone.
I am surprised no one has mentioned this, but if you go to your syncmyide site, you can see a list of tested phones that support bluetooth enabled texting. Sony has nothing to do with it. Here is a link:
The problem with the lists is they only show a very very small amount of phones and even some on that list cant do what they say. I had the razr v3 and it couldnt do text but the list says it can. I only tried it 2 weeks ago when i first got it and now i have a HTC touch pro that also dont work with text but it's ment to. I think what make more difference is what ROM edition your net works are running on that phone as some networks look the phones down like Apple do and you have to unlock/hack them to access all the features.
I synced my BB Z10 to the sync system which allows me to listen to text msg's and I can use sync to send a short one\two word reply. It will not allow me to send a full text while driving but that's ok with me.
The text message feature is dependent on the phone that is being connected.
Check to see if your device is compatible by following the link for your system and selecting the box that says SMS TEXT MESSAGING on the left side of the page.
If you have a different one, pay attention to your phone's screen while you're pairing it. Many phones have a message (or multiple messages) that will pop up during this process that asks if you'd like to allow SYNC to access your phone. You must accept this message or the feature won't work properly.
