Difference between '99 F350 SRW and DRW

Just trying to find out all differences between the single rear wheel and dual rear wheel 1999 F350.

I know the rear end is different, but don't know exactly how. Any help is appreciated.

What do you mean? It's rather obvious, it's a completely different axle. What specifically do you want to know?

What rear end is in the SRW and what rear end is in the DRW (ratio, lsd)? What are the capacity differences? Are there any other differences in the truck besides the rear end?

I have a 01 DRW and it has 4:10 gears (Sterling) the SRW has 3:73 gears (Dana)

Ray Baker had posted this before it has a lot of useful information in it

The vin # should tell the difference because the GVW is different

Some dually's came with 3.73, most came with 4.10 they are Dana 80 axles, and the SRW axles are the Sterling I think, and usually have 3.73 ratio.

I have a 3.73 non-LSD rear in my DRW. Pretty much standard equipment for DRW 4x4 auto trucks. The 4.10s and/or LSD was extra price options.

A little more

S= F350 SRW
W= F-350 DRW

The fourth VIN position is the vehicle brake type and GVWR code (all vehicles use hydraulic brakes).

S — 9,001-10,000 pounds GVWR with driver and front passenger air bags
W — 10,001-14,000 pounds GVWR with driver and front passenger air bags

Demensions are here https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...ty250_350.html

A D80 11.25 vs a sterling 10.25.
brakes and leaf springs, hubs tires and fenders.
I think that is about it.

So the rest is identical? On 4x4 is the front axle/brakes the same?

Probably with the exception of the dually wheel adapters, I think the rest is the same.

That is true on the rotors. Good catch. There are a few dually conversions around and he wants to make sure that he know the difference between a true dually and a "make beleive" dually. He and I discussed this through email. I suggested that he post it up here to get as much info as possible.

[quote=bill11012;7883008]The front brake rotors are not be the same.[quote]

I am not sure about the rotors but the hub bearing is different. The studs are shorter on the dually then on the SRW. I know there were 3 different rotors, (Cale at BTS had this problem with my truck) but I am not sure if they were different between dually and SRW.
