Choke?

I have a 1973 250 with a 390. I'm not haveing a really big problem but it gets really annoying. Something I like about this truck is when I start it all I have to do is bump the key and it catches right on. Since about 3 days ago its been taking forever to start. It starts right up in the morning but thats it, the rest of the day it may sit for 10 minutes or 3 hours and when I go to start it I have to crank and crank it. Pumping the accelerator doesnt help at all. I rebuilt the carb about 300 miles ago. Also, my choke used to stick so I loosened all the adjustor screws so the choke really doesnt do anything lol. Does this sound like a vaccume problem or is it sitting there and flooding or..?
Thank you

Also it does not do it every time, but probably about 80 or 90 percent of the time

First thing to do is check for spark and fuel when it is having the problem. Sounds like it is a heat related problem. What kind of ignition system are you running?

If the choke is loose and not doing anything, it may sometimes stay open or vibrate shut...causing odd starting issues. I'd fix that choke asap.
