It's ALIVE
Any of you guys on the east coast feel the tremor? It was at least a 8 on the
richter scale here. I need to finish installing the nitrous, battery disconnect switch, and more wiring for lights, and it will be ready for the track.
After some fine tuning, and test runs, we will see what it will do.

Up there ?
Hope your vacation was a good one !!
Its Good to see ya back .........

I have been looking out here for a Comet for you, but they seem to be scarce.
I will get some video and sound when I take it to the track.

We had it running on the dyno earlier, but first time in the car. It is just nice getting a project near completion.

Yes,, traveling is great... Life is good when you are retired.
I don't know if you guys heard or not, but we lost one of our friends at the Bonnyville Salt Flats. Racing is strong in Northern Calif. and seven cars went from Redding to Bonnyville this year. Bryant was going over 200 mph when his car started flipping. His family says that at least he died doing something he loved to do. Another friend blew up his engine at 234 mph, but did not crash. He went for a wild ride, but came out ok.
Sometimes I think the smart racers are the ones who have 15 second cars, who can run for years without hurting the engines or themselves. My friends $20,000 engine is now junk.
BUT,,, life is short,,, and we need to live it to it's fullest.
So, where are the pictures already?!?!?! LOL
The next race is September 12th, and will hope to have the car ready for that race and get some pictures. The first couple of runs will be just to check out the car. Since we installed a new front axle, we need to make sure it will be going straight. My plan is to putt on down the track and get up to around 100 mph and check the steering and brakes. If all is well at that point, we will go a little faster. The first day will be without nitrous. There will be lots to check on including timing, air pressure, carb, etc. When everything checks out ok, then we will go faster. Tomorrow is another trip, and work on the Falcon is sporadic.
I still need to drill the new aluminum rear wheels for the screws to hold the slicks from spinning. Seems like there is always something. After we get back from tomorrows trip, I will take some pictures of what has been accomplished. At least the FE is in the car, and running well.
those hotrods dont go together as fast as they did when we were kids pulling all nighter's to get the motor back in the car...and then loading it up at day break and driving to the track ! Just to go thru tech at 8am and have the car not pass tech because you forgot to put the driveshaft back in...worrying to much about getting the motor and trans in !
dont ask me how I know this......Or doing a plug reading after a pass and putting the plug in the plug tray...taking a break for a buger and a beer...Pulling the car to the stging lanes..Go to fire it up..and the motor sounds like 8 deflating tires !! just to find out the plugs are still in the tray and the tray is in the camper !!
we decided at that time when 2 or more wrench's were helping on the car..you wrote down on a check list what you took off and when it went back on ! Or laying shop rags over the carbs to keep fly Chit out while the front end was off checking the Valve clearence's...putting the front end back on...and wondering why the front end at the carb box fought with us...to find out prior going to the blocks upon fire up...we suck the rags into the carbs..
Those are the only one's I can think of at this time...But I know theres more where that came from... It made for some good laugh's back at the shop.. But we sure showed our rookie side the first year out...
If there was something that we could have done wrong ....We did it !!Even if you just run the car at one track where you live..Its still gonna take you probably a half dozen times or so at the track to sneak-up on the tune and work all the bugs out at a min...and for you to get comfy with the new powerplant..and how it launch's... I hope you guys remembered to lay that axle back no more than 4* so the car wont get the high speed shakes at the big end... It was more than a handful with the butterfly wheel in the altered on a test pass at 138mph...and the car didnt weigh but 2000lbs W/driver...
It sounds as tho you have taken you time and have looked the car over real good...and it should make for a REAL fun ride ! Didnt meen to write a book here...
