My truck has factory chrome fender skirts, and last night I dinged one up pretty bad and I'd like to replace it. It's the rear passenger side skirt, how much do they cost and who still makes them? There's pictures in both my garage and gallery for clarification (not of the damage, just of my truck to see what I'm talking about).
Also, more importantly/realistically, what other years/models would fit? I'm almost sure an 80-90 Econoline's would work, but I'm not sure. It's more likely that I'll head out to a local junkyard to check, but I'm not holding by breath on finding an '83 F150 with exactly what I need, cut and dried.
If you do the LMC route...I'd like to hear how well they looked and fit. I've got a damaged chrome fender skirt on my right rear fender. (Body work is taking a back seat to mechanical stuff for now...)
Not trying to be a jerk, just posting to inform. But Fender Skirts are additional pieces that attach to the fender that would cover the upper portion of the wheel and tire. They look like this
Chitownhillbilly: Yeah, I didn't know exactly what to call them, now I think it's called chrome molding or something of the like? Hah, I don't want those real skirts on my truck!
Jmeyer: Yup, that's what I'm lookin' for, but it appears to be sold as a group of four (for each wheel). I'll probably end up cruising a junkyard some time to find what I'm looking for instead of spending $70 for one single molding.
Also, like I was asking earlier, does anyone know if other years/models will fit? Looking around I don't know if 87+ F-series will, but what about an older Econoline?
It's not so much as scratch as a twist/rip, but it's good to know they're aluminum instead of chrome, it'll help me in my search (if they even made chrome ones, I guess not. Still, now I'll look like I know what I'm talking about!).
Officially they are called "Wheel Lip Mouldings" at Ford.
Right Side Bed wheel Lip moulding: E0TZ9929164A
Left Side Bed Wheel Lip Moulding: E0TZ9929165A
Right Side Front Wheel Lip Moulding: E0TZ16038A
Left Side Front Wheel lip Moulding: E0TZ16039A
They are also obsolete.
There are a few NOS still out there though. I just got a Left Rear myself, because someone backed his trailer into me last week.
They fit 1980-1983 F-100 and 1980-1986 F-150/350 only.
Wherever you get one, make sure you get the actuall Wheel Lip Moulding, that screws into the bottom of the wheel lip, and not the arch that comes with the Lower bodyside protection moulding, with rubber strip. Had that happen before as well.

That picture SCREAMS Cadillac ... mid 70's it appears.
We had a guy in "our neighborhood" that had an old Ford pu with "Cruiser Skirts" on it. He had a 50's-60's nickname like "Pinky" or such. It was a "Baby Blue" regular cab longbed and was lowered, teardrop spotlights and had, no kidding, cruiser skirts! Have no idea where he got them, but he finally had to trade up ..... but he couldn't have a truck w/o skirts .... and somewhere, God only knows, he found a set of wheel opening skirts for like a '97 F150.
