Heavy Duty or not and which gear do I have

Hello
I am a newbe Girl and just bought a 92 Ford F250 extra cab with a 460 7.5 Auto. 2wd with A/C for towing a tt fully loaded at 5000 or 6000 pounds.
How do I know if my truck is a Heavy Duty or not ?
I looked on the tag diff. bolt and it said L55. what is L55? Is it 3.55 gear ?
I pull up some pretty good hills going to Lake of the Springs.

Thanks

Yup, you have the 3.55:1 Traction-Lok rear...the diff cover bolt holding the tag on is most likely crushing the "3" into oblivion.

Easiest way to tell whether you have an HD 250 or not is look at the data plate on the driver's door jamb. An HD will be 8600 lbs GVWR, where a light-duty 250 will be somewhere around 6600 (I think...please correct me gently, subsequent posters). Also, I don't think the 460 was an option in the LD 250, but as I like to say, the older I get, the less I realize I know.

You shouldn't have a problem towing with that rig, even with the 3.55s...the 460 will make up for the relative lack of gear!
