Ignition switch linkage broken..

Anyone had this to happen to them?

Turning the key doesn't do anything; removed the switch and when turning the key- the place when the switch prong goes does not move.

Appears to be a broken link - anyone have any R&R procedures?

My friend is having trouble with his 97 frod F-150 ignition switch. I think the linkage is broken that moves the stem on the electrical switch. Does anyone have any info on how hard it is to change this out or what to do?? I did pull the switch out and he can manually start his truck and drive it, but the dashboard under the steering wheel is hanging down.

It's a pain in the butt, Robert.

Basically, one has to remove everything below the speedometer and rearward of the knuckle in the steering shaft before it goes into the firewall.

The steering unit is best worked on at the bench and the hardest part is getting the tilt-spring back into place.

Mostly, it's just a matter of making sure you take good sequential pictures as you disassemble it- so it can go back together correctly.

If you have specific questions- ask away...
