Exhaust manifold bolts 1996 351W
Got my 16 yo son his first vehicle, a 96 F250 4x4. Body was in great shape, frame and undercarriage needed some work. All body work is done, just finished up the motor (351W) with a comp thumper cam, roller lifters, new crank, rings, bearings, bigger injectors etc. and started to bolt on the exhaust manifolds. Some of the bolts broke off taking it apart. Bought a new bolt set but don't remember which bolts are studs, which ones are regular bolts etc. Anyone have a diagram showing which bolts go where? It would save us alot of trial and error time.

I believe the ones that are studs are only the long ones. It makes it really hard to take them out later on if you need to.
Also, Do not use regular studs and a nut to make them. Get the HELP (red package) kit. This kit has the studs made like an extended bolt. Thats what I got for mine. Is that the same kit you have?
For the driver side, the one the dipstick goes on is a stud, and behind that the one that the coil bracket goes on is a stud.
For the passenger side the one that the upper intake and ground strap bolt to is a stud and the ones that the smog tube mounts to are studs.
Most of those are pretty self explanatory if you look at how the stuff fits.
I think mine had all the longer bolts as studs originally, even if the stud part wasn't used.
