How does A plan work???
Can anyone tell me exactly how the A plan works. My one uncle works for ford and my other retired from ford. So we can get it from either one of them. My question is, Is the A plan a flat rate or does it vary from say if my uncle used it or my dad uses it. The reason I ask is cause we looked at a 2010 fusion yesterday with the I4. Stickered at 24900. They showed us the A plan price and it said 22???. We could get it down to almost 19000. Well my mom, dad, and me went out to dinner and we stopped at the dealer where I got my truck. They had a 2010 fusion sport. Has the fancy rims, black interior with blue, sony sound system, v6, had all kinds of saftey features like if you go to get over and there is a car there it warns you also park assist, and a bunch of other goodies. The sticker said 29000 and the window said employee price 23000. My dad is going to go back up there tomorrow to talk to them but Im just curious if the A plan would be the same as employee pricing. If so why is a I4 with just a couple options 22000 after A plan.

I was unaware non Ford employees could use A plan, as far as I know it is employee only. When you are retired it is D plan, same as salesmen I believe. For friends or family of employee's there is X plan. Anyway any of the plans are a set price, but the more expensive the vehicle the larger the margin, for example the X plan deduction on a Shelby Mustang can be $7K whereas on a plain GT it is only $2K-$3K. So the more loaded the Fusion is there will probably be a little more money off dollar wise but not a lot. The employee pricing advertising doesn't really have anything to do with any of the plans, most of the "employee prices" are better than the X plan price. For a break down of plans A plan gives the most off, then X and D plan. A plan is roughly $1K-$2K cheaper than X plan when you are in the $30K MSRP range.
Here is a dealer I use to look up A plan prices, they are listed on their website:

Well when we test drove the 4 cylinder the lady goes do you have a plan or anything. My dad said my two brothers have it. One is a retired and the other works at the local engine plant. She said perfect and showed us the A plan price. As far as I know as long as your family member (father, mother, or sibling) works for ford you can get the A plan. Im not sure about aunts, uncles, or cousins. We can get it but the window sticker said 23--- and we were hoping that was with out insentives but it is so we arent sure if we are getting it now or not.

Here is how it works... Your family member has to get you a number, They will know where and how to get it. Now you go to the dealer, Identify your self as an A plan, or X Plan person. When you find a vehicle you want, they get the folder with that vehicle , and it tells them what the price is you pay. It is not negotiable. The only thing negotiable in the deal, is if you have a trade, that trades value. The new vehicle price is cut and dry.
I bought mine on the x plan, and is basically the same thing. My daughter worked as a Ford Parts manager. I think a is for factory and x is for shop or dealer people. No real difference in cost though.
You can go to a dealer and identify your self with out the number, just to close the deal, you will need that number

1 other thing, is all vehicles have a specific plan value, and are not the same. The price is driven by demand of that vehicle. It is almost always way less then the window sticker. But if it is a high demand vehicle, then maybe not. Like a loaded up super duty leahter diesle ect you wont save that much, but a 500 or mytique or car like that, I have seen savings up to $7500 off window sticker. Another car that wont save you much is a hybrid.
