Help...A/C retrofit Gurus

89 F150..5.0Litre.Did a 134a retrofit and can't get cold air.Here's where I'm at.
New Compressor
New Reciever/Drier
New Blue Orifice tube
Flushed entire system
Passed leak test
I have charged system anywhere from 75 to 85% of R12 capacity (52oz.)
Low side running at 55psi
High side running at 250psi
ambient air 85 degrees
65 degrees at vent with max A/C on
Any Ideas?????

Sounds like and over charge.
Low side should be about 42 PSI.

Yeah, 55 is too high on the low side but I would expect more than 250 on the high side. I think your orifice tube is too big, I used a red on on mine. Isn't it red-white-blue from smallest to largest?

If in fact it is red/white/blue that may be the problem.Can anyone verify the red/white/blue thing?As mentioned I installed the blue.

Ford Colors Orifice Tube sizes:
Blue = .067
Red = .062
Orange = .057
Green = .052
Brown = .047

The only white one I know of was used in the GM line and it was .072.

Ford F-series:
81-86 Blue (R-12)
87-90 Red (R12)
91-93 Blue (R-12)
94-96 Red (R134a)
97-98 Blue (R134a)

Sounds like it has to much in to me too. I just did my '89 retro this last week and went blue orifice and I am right at 44 degrees idling and 38 degrees driving. Feels GREAT. My system only took 3lbs. bone dry.
