Need advice for Str8 6 exhaust..

Now I know what everyone is thinking...this is a tired ol' thread, that's seen better days. But I'm ready for a new exhaust and I want a good, deep sound on my '92, 300, manual tranny, 115k miles. All exhaust is stock, no mods, other than some suspension work.

I'm going with a 40 series flowmaster. what I have right now is 1 cat, just about where the tranny is, and str8 pipe to the muffler, then it's bent and comes out stock at the rear pass. side. I'm keeping the cat(it's only 2 years old), and I want to do like most of you have said about the bringing it out in front of the rear pass. side tire.

I may even get it done this afternoon, maybe not, depending on the consensus here.

What is everyone's take on a good deep exhaust. I may not even go with a 40, maybe glasspacks...I dont want it to kill me when cruising, but I want to be heard when I step on it.

I read a few here have done both sides out to the rear tires. I do mostly in town driving, sometimes interstate and a little towing, tugging when needed.

I'm up for any good ideas on this.

Thanks Again,
Matthew

I dont know what a flowmaster sounds like on a 300 but i have heard one with a 24 inch long glasspack. it did sound good, a nice low rumble with-out a ton of noise when you stand on it but like i said a good rumble, keep us posted.

If you want your 300 to sound good dont get a 40 series or 2 chamber Flowmaster, get a 50 series or 50 series SUV 3 chamber. Or get a long glasspack. The 300 with a louder muffler especially since you only have one cat will not sound good. If you make an inline six loud it makes i higher pitch sound. If you make it have a nice deep exhaust sound it will sound good. I actually had a 50 series Flowmaster on my old truck and the guys at the shop thought it was a V8. I would bring the exhaust out the back or put a turndown on it. This is especailly true since its an I6.
