Overspray on my BRAND NEW hood? (long)
Has anybody expeerienced this problem? I just washed my 2 month old white with beige truck for the second time and I am seeing what looks like black overspray on the hood! I haven't noticed it anywhere else. I did have to carry it back to the dealer for about 5 days right after I got it for a vibration and speaker problem but I didn't notice any problem until now. Do you think they were stupid enough to get my truck near the paint booth and didn't have one of those positive downdraft booths? Do you think it came from the factory this way? I am going to tell my dealer. I absolutely don't want them to repaint the truck but I would welcome them removing the hood and repainting it. Don't you think they would do it this way? Also I have had 2 places on the underside where it is painted beige by the pass. door wheretape was loose and I pulled it off and now it is white under there. They could tape this area off and repaint it very easily (probably 20 sq. in.) but I don't think I want them to because of possible overspray! Any help or ideas greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long post.

Welcome to FTE!
Are you sure it is overspray?
It might be small specks of road tar for example.
Try using tar and Bug remover on a small area to see if the spots come off.
Of course, if it really is overspray, make the dealer fix it. And also, make them repaint the other area you talked about, and stay with the problem until it is fixed to YOUR satisfaction.
Remember, this is a brand new truck, and the paint warrenty is for real.
Good luck!

It's definitely not bugs ot tar. It almost looks like it is under the surface. Only thing about the other place on it is back in '88 I bought a brand new Cutlass that had some acid rain looking spots on it. They said they could get them out. Couldn't. Got it repainted. First time within weeks. Second time not long after. Never was happy with the paint job overall and never seemed to get it right. Ever since then I look a car on the lot over with a fine tooth comb for scratches and stuff, but I never noticed this. I wonder why some vehicles on the lots look so bad with scratches and stuff? That actually kept me from getting one with my favorite color from another dealer.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Aug-02 AT 11:52 PM (EST)]they might be able to buff it out.i doubt it is overspray because in any shop i worked in the vehicle was in the paint booth.sometimes guys would prime outside of the booth.try reducer to get it off
make sure you pressure them to fix it.i spent every night from6-close bugging them to fix my paint and a vibration.the fuel system went out twice and then the brain quit.and this was a brand new car!!
after three months ford offered my money back and some how the loan or part of it still ended up on my next new car.i almost banned ford.
