3m tape removal

Is there a easy and cheap (read free) way to remove 3m double sided decal tape? I had some of those window deflectors that covered the vent windows on the side and were just cracked and broken so I took them off, now I need to get the tape off. Any help would be great appreciated.

I've tried alcohol, WD40 and some other oils/acids. The alcohol loosens it up some, but I still end up with a blister on my thumb when removing the tape. You might try goo gone or goop off, they are supposed to easily release adhesives, but I haven't tried it against 3m tape.

There is a kit that you can get rather cheap from an auto parts/ body store that comes with a disc that goes in a drill and works really well.

I have had pretty good luck with WD40, definitely need to let it soak for a bit.

Ditto on Med.............WD40 works great! When I switched out my Powerstroke badges for my VT365 badges, I just let the door warm up nicely in the sun then used braided fishing line and pulled it behind the badge, effectively removing the badge and most of all the tape. What little bit of tape residue was left was removed with good ol' WD40 and a little elbow grease, followed by some warm soapy water and a clean rinse!

DO NOT USE ACETONE OR LIGHTER FLUID!!!! GIVEN ENOUGH QUANTITY IT WILL PERMANENTLY SOFTEN THE PAINT!!!!!

1. Fist take a hair dryer and heat the tape to dry the adhesive. It should flake off slowly. You can use denatured alcohol to remove residue. if that fails....

2. Purchase 3M adhesive remover at any auto boby paint supplier. If will dissolve just about any petro/veg based products without damaging paint in any way.
