Thumbs up Ot: 3 days smoke free!!!!

I know 3 days aint much, but hey, it's a start. The wife and I gave up smoking. Three days, and counting. No fits of rage, yet, and no real cravings for it. Should help increase my old Ford budget. We were each smoking a pack a day, and there was no end in sight. We just kind of looked at eachother the last time we lit up, and said "yuck, they just don't taste good anymore." So, I know it's not been long, but I am starting to feel a bit better about myself. We were spending about $9.25 a day, so that will add up to about $3375 a year. Pretty good chunk of change in todays economy. So, wish me luck with a successful kicking of the habit.

I kicked them cold turkey back in March. The first week is the hardest. After that, the cravings are just an annoyance instead of a crisis. I've cheated a few times, but for the most part, I'm done with them. It's good that your wife is quitting with you. It makes a world of difference. My old lady is weak and can't quit without a shot and a pill and a patch and some acupuncture and a lobotomy and whatever other crutch they can dream up. If she'd throw them away too, I'd never be tempted again. Good luck!

Good for you! We all know that it is bad for us. I quit for 15 years and then started again. I know I should quit, but keep putting it off. The first week is tough but it gets better after that. Hopefully I will join you soon.
Lets see, I don't drink, don't chase women, I eat healthy, get plenty of exercise and then give up smoking. Hmmmm....I may live forever, but what's the point?

Good luck! My wife quit cold turkey and has done so for some years now. It's the attitude that you want to quit that works. I quit when the price was about to go up to over $2.50 a pack. I couldn't see myself paying that much, lol.

good luck! The way I look at it is. If my engine was smoking that much I would think there was something wrong with it... Keep it up!

Quit cold turkey 30+ yrs .ago at a truckin in St Agustine Fla.Memorial day 1979 . Just threw those nasty things in the trash & it was all over .I really don't think I would have survived pneumonia in 2000 if I would have been smoking then .

Good luck Joe! I quit 15 years ago after smoking a pack a day for 35 years. Once I made up my mind it was easy. Although others smoke still smells good. I haven't cheated though.

I sure feel a lot better. I can tell you it gets easier each day and then you will reach the point where the want is gone.

Good for you. I am a professional quiter. I start and stop, start and stop. Its time again to quit. The WORST thing you can do is thinking you could just have one. Thats all it takes. I gave up drinking 3 years ago and that was easyier then giving up smokes. Dam things. Keep it up.
