I find it hard to believe that none of us know how Ford did it from the factory. lol.

Hydrodipping is always a possibility, but that covers the entire piece, and not just the face.

It's been good so far. It didn't make it out of Ontario completely unscathed though. There are a couple of gusset plates to replace under one cross member and the floors are scaly but solid, it will get a good scrape and undercoat this week, should hold up for a few more summers at least until I need to do any cutting and welding.

Just bought these two trucks. Black one is an 86, XLT badge on the dash, Lariat badge on the cab, Explorer lettering on the bed. 5.0, 4 spd OD Fuel pump was supposedly non functional, but tossed a battery in and drove 500km pulling the red one on a tow bar. (2003 Ranger for a pilot vehicle) Starves for fuel on an incline. Red 80 is Ranger package. 351M and auto. Both are 4X4 regular cab SWB. Previous owner was using red truck for parts for the black truck. Steering column missing on red, broken ignition switch on black.

Rebuilding both trucks. Red one will become 460 powered. Black one will be my son's daily driver.

86 F150. Tossed a battery in and drove it 500km pulling the red one!

5.0 4 spd OD

Non running 351M auto.

Looks like they've both been used pretty hard. They should both be good projects though!

Those wheels on the black one probably came from the red one. They weren't available for 1986, but were for 1980-1981.

Nice trucks!
