Ordered the SCT X3 and Y-pipe combo from Mike at 5 Star Tuning on Wednesday afternoon. The box was in my garage by Saturday noon time (gotta love FedEx Home). I haven't got a chance to install the Y-pipe yet since I was to busy playing taxi dad this weekend. I did however manage to flash my truck with the 87 Performance tune and found an excuse to take the truck instead of the car on one of my "fares". Wow! I love the shift improvements and butt-o-meter says that there is an improvement across the board and especially at WOT. I'll have to run a few stock and flashed 0-60 times and see how much of an improvement. After that it's on to a 93 flash test (when I burn off the tank full of 87) and then installing the Y-pipe. I snapped a few pics for you all.

X3 unit and document folder.

93 octane is even worse. Although, I am currently just under half a tank of 93 octane left, and I actually got about 120 miles on this tank so far. That's around town. That works out to be just under 10 MPG. Which is amazing, given I'm usually down in the 5.5 range

damit, this thread isnt making it any easier for me to resist pulling the trigger on a SCT tuner....

i'd like to do the gears but its more cash then i wanan throw at the truck when everythings working fine..but the stock tune on the truck really is lacking with the 3:73's and 35"s...

the dreaded "spark knock under light load on hills" drives me crazy...

i hear the SCT tunes remove that problem...which is a huge selling feature to me..

Thanks guys! So for this has been well worth the money and I don't even have the Y-pipe on yet. Keeping my foot out of it has been hard so I don't even bother resisting. I only have about 75 miles with the flash but so far the fuel mileage seems up even with the heavy foot.

Nice! Your making it harder for me to wait. I think I have decided to wait out the factory warranty... but as a daily driver for me that will probably be as soon as some time next year!

On a SD gasser I highly doubt they would give a tuner a second look. Thats one reason why I don't have the Livewire on my truck, no dash bling to make the dealer look for a tune. Mine got tuned well before 20k miles. If the fellow doing the tuning knows what there doing its actually better for the truck than the factory tune. Then again my truck is over 5YO and has never been to a dealer so obviously I didn't have any warrenty/tuner issues.

Here is the real world numbers for my SCT Livewire installed January 31, 2009 purchased from Mike at 5 Star.

http://www.fuelly.com/driver/sddesigns/excursion

Installed 1/31/09 set to 87 Prformance tune 11.8 Highway test drive

4/17/09 switched to 87 Economy 10.2 Local

5/1/09 installed Road Master Suspension 12.6 Highway

5/13/09 switched to 87 Performance Tune 13.4 Highway

8/6/09 switched to 87 Economy Tune 12.3 Local

My before average was 7 it is now 13 since 1/31/09 mostly around town with a heavy foot and lots of stop and go traffic.

All odometer miles confirmed with Magellen c530 GPS within .01 + or - /mile and adjusted with tuner for tire diameter.

Now let's not forget to mention the difference in performance overall. Outstanding!!!!
