cant read codes

cant read codes

I went to have my codes read today at a local autoparts store and when they pluged the code reader in it wouldent turn on. He thought it might be batteries so he went inside and came back out with another code reader and still nothing. Is there a known spot for wiring problems or could it be the wrong type of code reader for my truck? I have a 03 f-250 late 6.0 no mods to the engine. I have also had my codes read before at this place and also other places and it worked fine. no luck this time anyone know where to start?

Does the cig lighter have power? A lot of the time ford puts the cig lighter and the OBD2 power on the same circuit, so if the fuse pops for the lighter, then it will disable the scan port.

Thanks alot man I dont know if it was the problem yet but i found a 20 amp fuse that was busted and the lighter did not have power. anyway ill find out soon thanks again
