now i relize i need the shaft itself because that is what the filter seals against but look in this pic.




all the stuff that goes inside i see as unnecessary. can someone please fill my in on its purpose and weather or not i can gut it out.

If you gut it it won't turn off if you don't have a filter. But why would you run without a filter. If i remember right. Been a while since i have been in there.
