Gas Tank score
I took the F250 out on it's first real trip last week. I went to Bon Echo provincial park. The truck performed perfect.
I filled both tanks before leaving and since the rear main tank gauge isn't working on ran on that tank first. About two hours in to my drive the truck sputters and starts to stall. I figure I'm out of gas, way sooner than I would have thought, so I flick the switch and run on the Aux. tank no problem.
Drive back without incident, drive around town and park the truck. Monday night she won't start. Fuel pumps shot. At least she waited to get me home. This truck has a canister filter on the pump and man was that thing packed with sludge, crud and rust. So the urgency to do something about the tanks is on.
I start pricing repair vs replacement tanks. I can get the existing cleaned and recoated for $125 (I bring them the tank), I can buy a new tank for around $230. Then I start pricing a 38 US gallon (144 litres) tank and they are pricey,at around $350 or little less from the US but Still more than $300 and I'd have to wait.
I checked with Cross Canada, they supply patch panels mainly but carry other bits and pieces including tanks. They list the 38 gallon tank. I call my Cross Cannada distributor and ask if the price I'm seeing on line is correct at $116? He says he doesn't have it listed but hold on a minute. He comes back with a price of $97 ! I ask him if he's sure as they list the stock tank for $229 and he says it looks fishy but thats the price the system has. SOLD!
Picked it up yesterday, it's huge. Size does matter! It didn't come with the straps or the sending unit modification kit but I can fabricate those.
I'll get this tank in and then get the aux tank out and recoated. When I'm finished I'll have to get a loan from the bank to fill up! I figure I'll have a capacity of well over 200 litres. I will be able to actually pass a gas station with out stopping.
If you need a tank for your dent side(may fit other years) and don't mind putting the spare tire in the bed of your truck, grab one of these before they figure out the pricing error.

Great find Frank.
Cross Canada is a very interesting company as I found out.
They are the supplier for Rock Auto one of the biggest Online auto parts stores in the world.
It is my guess they supply a lot of other places like Jeffs Bronco Graveyard too.
So their pricing is pretty good I've found, that's where all my repair panels came from.
Rick.
