1961 F100 door locks

Can anyone tell me why my truck has a keyhole on PS door and not the DS door?

So you can lock/unlock the door from the safety of curbside. Standing in the street is dangerous. You lock drivers door from inside then slide out passenger side.

gangstakr, is that only with 61's ? And as far as locking the doors from the inside, is there a trick to it? I dont see any lock mech. on the inside.

It's the inside door handle, one way opens the other way locks. Don't force it you'll get the feel of it. As far as what veh. and years this covered I think N.D. will have the answer. I know it's been covered on here before but maybe he'll repeat it.

ALL cars/trucks from all the automakers for many years only had a right side door lock cylinder.

The thinking at that time was....it wasn't safe to stand out in the street locking/unlocking doors considering the traffic.

Most streets back then were only two lanes, and until after WWII, most streets did not have a dividing line painted down the center.

The left door lock cylinder appeared on Ford cars in 1949, but it only came with the deluxe models. 1952 and later, all cars have both.

All 1953/62 Custom Cabs had left door lock cylinders, but the Standard Cabs did not.

The 1957/63 Ford Truck Parts Catalog does not list a left door lock cylinder till 1963 on Standard Cabs.
