My 1999 Ford ranger 3.0L formerly blew ice cold A/C, now it will not, I attempted to refill w/ a freon cartridge but I am not completely sure if it is working....
While running the A/C after refilling the freon, my engine idols kinda funny.... a pulley stops spinning in place for about 2/10ths of a second then repeats the process about 4 seconds later.
you may have over charged it. But it shouldnt cycle that fast... If the belt squeels then you have really over charged it...
What was the reason you thought it was low on refrigerent?
Sometimes the low preasure switch fails, and all of a sudden you A/C compressor wont turn on. It is a $15.00 switch. Ussually mounted on an alluminum pipe with 2 wires going to it... You can even jump that switch. If compressor turns on, and runns then thats it.
I imaging you are going to have to check the High and low preassure... Refrigerent wont just dissappear, it would have to have aleak somewhere/
Did your A/c stop all of a sudden, or did it loose cooling ability over time, then start blowing warm air?
