You have too much spring arc for slappers to work.

Okay, so I go home and lower the truck down with the jack and the following pics are what I have....

As you can see, the snubber is approx. 3/4" from the leaf. I got to this from moving the bar all the way back against the U-bolt mount for the leaf and moved the snubber to the inner mounting hole. This means the bar IS NOT centered with the rear end and the U-bolts for the bar. And as you can see, the rear U-bolt of the bar is loosened close to an inch which would require some kind of shimming.

Now, if I were to go ahead and tighten all the U-bolts at the position they are at currently against the mounting pad for the rear end U-bolts, this would increase the distance from the snubber to the leaf which is about a 2" distance.

This is the pass. side already mounted from the original location. It is centered using the rear end as the center point and tighted down. The snubber is in the outer mounting hole and is more than 3" from touching the leaf.

The last pic is the closest to the eyelet of the leaf which is still about 3" from touching it. Keep in mind that these are the stock springs in the stock location. If I am thinking right, there should be no reason for shims to be made for these to function. If that were the case, then I think it would defeat the purpose of "stiffening" up the suspension.

Looks like a el-cheapo set, and there going to snap your leaf spring with any real use, the Snubber has to hit the eyelet to work properly, Using that as a templet you can make a good set, It needs a saddle for the axle seat and to reach the eyelet, then be no more then 1/2 from the eyelet from the top of the rubber stubber

I appreciate your advise, but I would hardly call Lakewood "el-cheapo." I'll see what I can come up with. Not a welder but I know a few people that do some fab-ing.

Well, if there Lakewoods, ( I have never heard of them ) They should have gotten you the correct set. But making them inst hard at all, Very little welding is needed, But they have to be the right length to work proper.

Im sure the taction bars that you are installing are ( UNIVERSAL ) poeple have had to

Adapt them ,Im sure there not made for a ford truck with the rear end on top of the leafs , nobody

makes them for that custom work ! I made a set for my 65 truck out of 2x3 inch box tubing ! I don't have any pics right now .

If you are not making lots of horse power I think you may be able to use the lakewoods you have ! You could make a bolt on extension !

After all there is 3 bolt holes at the end that would help mount it !

Take a look at how taction bars work on this pinto !.................I saw this on U tube and thought of my prior posting about watching what they do and react ,Link>>>>>>
