Exhaust manifold fitment
#5
So, I take it this means that I can use the manifold off of a 351 W, then? I don't know if it is off of a 351M. The sticker on the valve cover just said 351. The manifold looks the same as the one on my 302, but I guess it means that it won't work? The manifold came out of a 1977 F150 with the 351, if that helps.

The 351 windsor looks like a slightly wider version of the 302. The 351M is a completely different engine. There are several ways to tell which you have.
The number of bolts on the valve cover is different but I don't recall off hand how many each cover has.
The thermostat housing on the 351W bolts to the front of the intake manifold and points up at roughly a 45 deg. angle. On the 351 M it bolts to the block and points straight up.
The fuel pump on the 351W bolts to the block with two bolts at the 3:00 and 9:00 o'clock positions the 351M has the two bolts verticle at the 12:00 and 6:00 o'clock positions.
I'm not sure whether a 351W manifold will fit or not but I do know for sure that a 351M won't work.
