For me the stock gauge lighting is fine but the turn signals, located so low in the dash, along with standard incandescent bulbs, are just too dim. If they are in direct sunlight then forget about seeing them and I can't always hear the blinker relay. So I decided to swap them out for LEDs (bulb style 194). Once I got past the damn speedometer cable issue (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...m-cluster.html) I was able to replace mine. Easy-peasy.
194 green LED ( part number 194-GHP5, green, NOT WHITE ) to replace the incandescent turn signal bulbs. The signal bulbs are too dim and since they are lower down on the dash they're visually dimmer, especially when in direct sunlight. These LEDs are a perfect fit and are MUCH easier to see!
Left side LED turn signal installed. Fitment is not an issue.
A LOT brighter than the standard bulb. This LED is dimmable.
These bulbs are not polarity sensitive, meaning it doesn't matter which way they go in. They are dimmable but not as finely as incandescent (which is the norm for LEDs at this time).
Note: To remove the ***** from the headlight and wiper switches you use a small, thin-bladed screwdriver. Place the blade on the far side of the **** retaining tab and then pull the tab towards you as you gently pull on the ****. To put the **** back on you simply push it on to the shaft.
