mass air 460 crank sensor info needed 96-97
i`am trying to put together a mass air 460. i`am installing it in a 2000 e350 van and making it 4x4 with 35 inch tires (6 inch lift). the van had a triton 5.4 and the lower end froze up at 86,000 miles. i now have the van completely rewired for a 96-97 460 california emissions (96-97 f truck) or 460 under 8600 lbs (96 van). my problem is the very rare california emissions mass air 460 uses a crank position sensor mounted somewhere on the front timing cover (have not seen one yet) and is triggered from something on the front of the crank. i`am not sure if it reads off the balancer or the crank spacer (again havent seen one yet) what i`am looking for is someone who either has a mass air truck or van , or someone who has seen this set up and can tell me how the crank position sensor mounts to the timing cover ( is there an extra bolt boss cast into the timing cover then drilled and tapped to mount the sensor like 95-97 351w) does the harmonic damper have a tone ring pressed on like a 302 -351w or does it have a special crank spacer to trigger it. without the crank sensor hooked up it is going to through a trouble code and start playing with my ignition timing. i have a ford part number for a timing cover but i cant seem find anyone that knows what the difference is from the older one to the california one. F6TE 6059 GA is the part number i have found. the older ones use a e7??-????-?? number. i suspect there is a difference. aftermarket covers say they work but i see no extra spot to bolt on a sensor so i would say they are for federal emissions engines and probley wont work for my set up. also there is a different part number for the balancer for 96-97 460`s. has anyone seen what i`am talking about ? does anyone have the parts i need and want to sell them . any info you guys can give me would be great. or pic`s anything. i cant finish putting the engine together or install it till i have the problem solved. my van just sits here waiting for the HUGE BLOCK to fire up and rattle the neighbors windows (they are going to hate my loud exaust) they thought my small block with headers was loud lol
