It depends on what is controlling the wifi... If it is windows it should be under the network center.. Some cards use there own utility for connecting WIFI..

I do not have any wifi here and I had it disabled on the laptop. I just had to remember how to activate it so that it would show up. I know where the wifi switch is

That just turns on the Radio to receive the signal..

I had a Vista laptop this week that when I needed to configure it, it wouldn't cooperate..

I had to manually create a profile for it..
