Strange Codes & Temp Readings

I'm new to FTE but haven't seen the same situation in looking through other posts & threads: I keep getting two codes when I hit the throttle pretty hard (3000+rpm) or if I am pulling a long steep grade: "1211-Inject Control Pressure Above/Below Desired" and "1249-Waste Gate Fail Steady State Test". I am pulling up the codes with an Edge tuner but am not using the Edge tune, only using it to read & clear codes & monitor engine.

Recently installed a Dieselsite: 203 Thermostat, cooling system filter & trans filter as well. Mileage went up 3/4 mpg.

On a recent 450 mi round trip in 90-95 F temps I noted Engine Oil temps as high as 220 & Transmission temps as high as 210! These temps are coming from the factory sensors out of the OBD port under dash. Kept getting the above codes pulling steep grades (60-70mph)

I am running a 2001 4WD CrewCab SWB 7.3 PSD (190K & counting) with a Banks 6-gun, Bnks Exhaust, Big Head Waste Gate, Jobe cold Air Intake, HP Oil Cross over line, Mag Hytek Trans pan & Bnks Transcommand,

1) Any ideas about the temps?
2) Any suggestions on how to eliminate them?
3) Considering adding temp gauges to Tranny Pan & cooling system. Thoughts?
I appreciate any suggestions, B

Welcome to FTE. To properly monitor your tranny temps you'll need to install a sending unit that you can hook up to a gauge. Also a larger or auxiliary cooler will help the temps more than a deep pan.

What were your oil temps before you switched to the 203 deg. t-stat?

The codes are a result of the banks stuff. Not a real big concern, but if you're pulling steep grades the most important reading you need is a pre-turbo EGT reading. You can't get this from the OBDII port. You'll have to put a sender in the manifold or up pipe, but it will keep you from melting a piston.

Thanks

I am planning on adding a larger Tran Cooler and will add temp sending unit & gauge to pod.

Oil temps were getting to 205 on really hot days. Also considering changing out to Evans Coolant.

On the Banks unit I am pulling EGT out of left side Exhaust manifold and and am staying under 1100 degrees pre turbo on grades. Alarm is also set to go off at 1150.

Seems like a pretty big jump in oil temps from just switching t-stats. Down in Texas 90 deg is considered a cool summer day so I've never considered the 203 t-stat. We'll wait for others with the 203 to chime in on their experience.

1100 on the EGT sounds good. Shouldn't have any problem with that. Get the tranny cooler and gauge and you'll be in better shape.
