I'm searching for an intercooler for the 6.0 on ebay, craigslist, etc. I found a few fairly cheap. Which is better. The all aluminum? Or the plastic ends? I was leaning toward the all metal. Thanks.
i like the idea of the metal ends for clamping force. no way will i ever make enough boost to NEED the all metal one
i actually went to look at this one before he put pics with the ad, was hopin i found someone that didn't know what they had and told him that was a stock 7.3 ic but it looked like someone cut the inlet off of it and welded it back on
You only need one -- it's on the hot-side. The 7.3L I/C is 3.25" on both sides, the 6.0L I/C is 3" on the hot side (inlet), 3.25" on the cold side (outlet). The stock boots both taper from 3.25" to 3". You just need a 3" to 3" non-tapered boot. I thought it was the other way, but when I tried to put mine in, I had a the right tapered boot, but not a straight 3" boot. Had to put the 7.3 I/C back in. At least I got 6.0L trans cooler in... That was actually much easier without the I/C in place so it wasn't really a bad thing that I pulled it.

There is almost no way besides measuring to tell what inlet/outlet size you have. I have seen early 99's with both 3.25" on both and 3" on both. They are all mixed and matched, why I don't know. So just figure on measuring when you do this you save yourself some headache.
I had all the right sized factory boots and no matter how hard I tried they weren't long enough...I fought them for over an hour on each side
Clays boots took me 20 min total to install
