6.0 Intercooler. Is All metal better?

I'm searching for an intercooler for the 6.0 on ebay, craigslist, etc. I found a few fairly cheap. Which is better. The all aluminum? Or the plastic ends? I was leaning toward the all metal. Thanks.

IIRC all the 6.0 units are plastic tanks
from what i understand the all metal is better for high boost but i think its more boost then most run

I've only seen all metal I/Cs for the 7.3L. I thought all the 6.0L I/Cs had plastic tanks, too!

maybe, maybe this guy/gal doesn't know http://smd.craigslist.org/pts/1266908372.html

i like the idea of the metal ends for clamping force. no way will i ever make enough boost to NEED the all metal one

That's a 7.3 I/C. Look at the title of the ad:
"97-03 Ford Intercooler F250 F350 7.3L 6.0L - $100 (Lusby)"

Why he put "6.0L" in there is beyond me...

I thought I read somewhere, that after 2001 maybe? it was hit or miss with plastic or metal ends. could be mistaken, it happens, occassionally

what is the BEST boot kit available for the 6.0 I/C swap?
I will probably just buy the bottom boots unless I can get all 4 new at a great price

You only need one -- it's on the hot-side. The 7.3L I/C is 3.25" on both sides, the 6.0L I/C is 3" on the hot side (inlet), 3.25" on the cold side (outlet). The stock boots both taper from 3.25" to 3". You just need a 3" to 3" non-tapered boot. I thought it was the other way, but when I tried to put mine in, I had a the right tapered boot, but not a straight 3" boot. Had to put the 7.3 I/C back in. At least I got 6.0L trans cooler in... That was actually much easier without the I/C in place so it wasn't really a bad thing that I pulled it.

There is almost no way besides measuring to tell what inlet/outlet size you have. I have seen early 99's with both 3.25" on both and 3" on both. They are all mixed and matched, why I don't know. So just figure on measuring when you do this you save yourself some headache.

I had all the right sized factory boots and no matter how hard I tried they weren't long enough...I fought them for over an hour on each side
Clays boots took me 20 min total to install
