Additional Tranny & P/S Fluid Filtering
An article with measured info that makes the case for us to seriously consider additional tranny & power steering fluid filtering. Automatic Transmission and Power Steering Filters - Four Wheeler Magazine
I've been using the mentioned Magnefine inline filter in my Ranger & Taurus power steering return lines for about 30K miles & its stopped the intermittent shudder & loss of boost problems both had developed, so I can give a positive thumbs up on the Magnefine, for additional inline power steering fluid filtering.
Am seriously considering adding one to the Taurus AXODE tranny return line after its cooler, to see if it'll address an intermittent 2-1 hanging up down shift problem it suddenly developed, maybe add one to the Ranger tranny return line after the tranny cooler, as preventive maintenance!!!!
Some tranny & p/s fluid filtering thoughts for pondering.

I'll "second" that idea!
I've been filtering my trans with spin-on filters for the last ten years or so, and the hydraulic system for about the last five. Both continue to keep the fluids clean of particulate matter, and both systems are on their original hardware.
Some neodymium magnets keep down the suspended ferrous particulates, as well.
Links in my sig file for those interested.
